The workshop, the company and the manufacture
Three dates keep Armin Strom's story legible. FHH records the watchmaker Armin Strom opening his workshop-boutique in Burgdorf, also called Berthoud, in 1967. It then dates a collaboration with industrialist Willy Michel to form Armin Strom AG to 2006. The manufacturer's current account begins its integrated Biel manufacture chapter in 2009 under Serge Michel and Claude Greisler. These are workshop, company-formation and manufacture milestones, not competing versions of a single birthday. The name links an earlier watchmaker with a later enterprise, while the later enterprise's technical work should not be retroactively assigned to his original shop.

Who the current pages identify
The house names Serge Michel as founder and Claude Greisler as co-founder and master watchmaker of its modern manufacture. Its imprint identifies Armin Strom AG in Biel/Bienne, gives Swiss UID CHE-112.357.604 and lists those two as representatives. The historical Willy Michel collaboration belongs in the chronology, but does not establish present share percentages. Nor does the current description of independence from a watch group prove an absence of financial backers. The practical distinction is between who leads and speaks for the manufacture, which these pages describe, and who controls every share, which they do not fully disclose.

Two oscillators, a route for exchanging vibrations
Armin Strom's resonance account centres on two regulating systems linked by a purpose-built spring. The manufacturer describes this Resonance Clutch as transmitting very small vibrations so the balances can synchronise. The question is not whether two wheels can be seen moving, but how coupling helps their oscillations maintain a relationship. This is the maker's explanation of its solution, not our experimental verification of its claimed resistance to disruption. Its published account also reports external CSEM confirmation; the underlying report was not retrieved here. A claim of improved rate stability should therefore remain attributed rather than becoming a promise that every owner's watch will outperform every alternative.

Read the ARF21 specification at its own scale
ARF21 is a concrete reference for the explanation. The official calibre record gives manual winding, two independent barrels and two regulation systems connected by the resonance spring. It lists 25,200 vibrations per hour, 276 components, 39 jewels and an 80-hour stated reserve. Its dimensions are 37.20 mm across and 6.70 mm high: these are movement measurements, not a complete watch's case dimensions. The page connects ARF21 to the Mirrored Force Resonance First Edition and Manufacture Edition Blue and Green. That named list prevents the figures from spreading to every generation of the collection. A reader learns more from the precise calibre association than from the word resonance alone.

Making an open movement readable
The manufacture account describes designing, machining, decorating and assembling components, followed by a double-assembly process: the movement is assembled, taken apart, cleaned and assembled again with lubrication. Its separate calibre page qualifies the breadth of its production claims by identifying hairsprings and jewels as specialist-supplier components. These remain manufacturer descriptions, without a factory audit. Editorially, the open arrangement makes a useful demand on the viewer: distinguish a bridge supporting a component from a moving wheel, and a polished surface from a regulating function. Decoration can make construction visible and attractive, but its presence does not independently establish chronometric accuracy.

The same house can ask a different question
Gravity Equal Force shows why the house should not be reduced to resonance alone. Its ASB19 calibre page lists an Equal Force Barrel, an automatic winding micro-rotor visible on the dial side and a single screwed balance with a steel spring. The stated reserve is 72 hours. These features describe another architecture, rather than the ARF21's pair of coupled regulators. A dated January 2025 article presents a separate development story for Dual Time GMT Resonance: fitting two movements into a smaller 39 mm case required a new arrangement and three years of development, according to the house. A display, a regulating concept and an entire product family are different units of comparison.

What an open face cannot answer
A view of two balances can invite close attention without answering every ownership question. Ask which calibre the reference uses, how it is wound and set, and which manual governs any synchronisation or adjustment controls. The FAQ distinguishes System 78, Resonance and Masterpieces as collection groupings; membership of the same brand does not mean identical procedures. For an older watch, the servicing route, parts support and present mechanical condition matter alongside the published design. This is an editorial checklist, not a diagnosis or a claim to have tested the watches. Nour's regulation and servicing guides help separate a maker's engineering explanation from an actual owner's operating instructions and measured rate history.

Draw coupling, then list what would need testing
Draw two plain oscillator symbols with a thin connecting spring labelled coupling. Keep separate arrows from two energy sources, so the picture does not suggest that one oscillator is simply a driven seconds hand. Add a small chart with time on the horizontal axis and relative phase on the vertical axis. A hypothetical settling trace can explain the question, but label it illustrative and do not present it as an Armin Strom measurement. Write three test questions beside it: whether synchronisation persists, how a disturbance changes it, and how the rate is measured. Then compare the diagram with the named ARF21 specification. An original schematic should explain the relationships without copying the maker's spring geometry or bridge layout.
